Meeting Friday, 15 November: Wednesday, 13 November 2013
There is an SNHS meeting this Friday. We will be discussing tshirts and planning the Christmas party.
*If you can't make it, make sure to pick up the newsletter from Mr. Lund's room!*
Spread the word, because very few people seem to be getting any SNHS notifications! Elise Penn SNHS President 2013-2014
Club Picture Day: Picture day is tomorrow (Friday). Our time is 1:25pm.
We were somehow forgotten in the list, but I will get you a time ASAP. Please keep checking this page and the Facebook for a time!
Here's the deal for SNHS pictures:
If you have anything nerdy (lab coats, xkcd shirts, goggles, safety glasses), bring it to the picture. We'll be stealing goggles and plushies from the science teachers as well. Wear whatever you have on, but please DO NOT WEAR ANOTHER CLUB'S TSHIRT. If you wear another club's t-shirt, you will not be included in the picture.
See you Friday! Elise Penn SNHS President 2013-2014
Pumpkin Catapult Team: Hey Pumpkin-Catapulters! We'll be meeting this Saturday (9/14) at 2pm at my house. Contact me for the address.
If anyone could do step #1 (cutting up a 4'x8'), that would put us far ahead! Just tell me you're doing it, and I'll post it on the Facebook and this page that someone is taking care of that job.
See you Saturday! Elise Penn SNHS President 2013-2014
Science Hours Opportunity: SNHS is building Pumpkin Catapults for Harvest Fair/RoboFest!
Date: Sunday, September 29, 2013 7:30AM-3:00PM (end time may change) Location: State Fair grounds. Commitment: You and a team will build a catapult and then help people operate it at the event. Plan to start building next week. The pumpkins are about 8"-10" in diameter and weigh about 6lbs. The catapult doesn't have to be complicated; in fact, if you decide on a complex design, you should have a simple backup. For example, you might want to use a "rubber slingshot" design as a backup. The entire team doesn't need to be at the exhibition date, but you should have at least two people, or enough people to help operate your catapult, depending on design.
In addition to 8 hours on Sunday, all time you spend building the pumpkin catapult counts as Science-related service hours. I will contact the NHS officers to clarify that this can count for NHS hours as well.
If you would like to get involved, contact me (eliserpenn@gmail.com) ASAP.
Shout out to Tony Stano for the great idea! Elise Penn SNHS President 2013-2014
First Meeting! Take 2 Thursday, August 22, 2013 The August meeting is cancelled. We will meet in early September, so watch for announcements. Elise Penn SNHS President 2013-2014
First Meeting! Tuesday, August 13, 2013
Our first meeting in Friday, August 23rd after school in room 126. We'll be discussing tshirts, fundraising, and this year's activities. Make sure to be there, since meetings are a mandatory part of SNHS. We'll have snacks and cool experiments. Plus, you might score a tshirt with Mr. Lund's face on it! What could be better? SNHS Service Forms Sunday, August 11, 2013
Hi everyone!
I know many of you completed volunteer hours after inductions on May 10th. Make sure to file these "summer hours" before the end of August. Here's a link to the hour form in case you need to print any off. Otherwise, Mr. Lund will offer them in his room.
When you submit Science-related hours, make sure to explain why they are science-related on your form! It will make the officers' jobs easier when we sort through hour forms, and your science-related hours will have a better chance of getting approved.
And just as another friendly reminder, make sure to pay your $10 SNHS fees by October 2nd. Or better yet, turn it in with your forms at the end of August so you don't have to worry about the late fees.
I hope everyone had an excellent summer and is prepared for another phenomenal school year! Elise Penn SNHS President 2013-2014
